It is these strategies, deployed in their full colourful spectrum that drive the work of the most successful educators in classrooms across the country today. The on-line format of the course enables you to study when and where you want to learn. Content is divided into 5 modules which you can complete in any order at any time.
Participants are encouraged to interact with one another using the communication tools (forum, chat, e-mail) provided by the CPD College learning system. Active facilitation throughout the course provides expert interaction, guidance and feedback for all participants. Assignments and questions which call for critical reflection, self-analysis and a reasoned response punctuate this highly interactive web based course.
On completion of this course each participant can download their CPD record and Certificate of completion. The Certificate of completion demonstrates your achievement in completing this professional development course.

Learning outcomes

As a result of course participation, all participants will be able to:
  • Effectively use and apply the full parameters of the very effective cooperative learning strategy in their planning and provision for teaching, and pupil learning
  • Appreciate the potential for cooperative learning and related active/interactive strategies to improve the quality of the learning experience and learning outcomes when used more often, more widely and more precisely
  • Select and deploy effective cooperative learning activities that reflects various intelligences and preferred learning styles
  • Better understand and utilise the three tier approach to differentiation and utilise it in scoping and planning curriculum content & learning activities
  • Effectively utilise the cooperative problem solving approach to mathematics, to include best principles and procedural steps
  • Detail the benefits of children participating in Web Quests and be able to plan, structure and use ‘Web Quests’ within a cooperative learning structure and classroom environment
  • Apply the relevant processes and evaluation tools necessary to carry out school self-evaluation and implement self-improvement in mathematics, e.g. be able to itemise/instance how/why & where one can systematically incorporate cooperative learning and related active/interactive strategies etc. to potentially boost achievement levels
